Make A Colonial Candle

Candles

The colonists didn’t have electricity, so they had to use candles to light their homes.  Can you do your homework by candlelight?

Supplies Needed:  crayons, 8-inch piece of string, clean baby food jar, a microwave wax bag, white wax, scissors, pencil

Steps:

  1. Remove the crayon wrappers
  2. Tie an 8-inch piece of string to a pencil.  Place the pencil across the top of a clean baby food jar.
  3. Melt the white wax using a microwave wax bag.
  4. Place a crayon into the baby food jar.  Pour the melted was over the crayon.
  5. Add another crayon and pour more wax.   Continue layering the crayon & wax until the jar is almost full.  Let the crayon candle harden.
  6. Clip the pencil off the string after the candle hardens.
